Advanced Syndromic Surveillance & Emergency Triage (ASSET) is a syndromic surveillance system that provides real-time outbreak detection of CBRNE events or naturally occurring disease outbreaks. ASSET provides the response community with epidemiological data to rapidly determine the existence and scale of a CBRNE event. It plays a major role in discerning the type of event, its geographical distribution, and the most likely method of spread. This capability improves response and public safety by supporting accurate, event-specific training, countermeasures, and public information programs. It also supports immediate response requirements and hazard mitigation, including emergency room and pre-emergency room medical response.
